Introducing Infinite Breath

Written by Jarrod Matteson | Jul 15, 2025 1:02:52 PM

When I began my Neurodynamic Breathwork training, I expected to learn techniques about how to bring our retreat breathwork experiences to a larger audience in an online format. I did learn these things, such as how to teach the specific breathing patterns, design the music sets, and structure sessions.

What I didn’t expect was the profound emphasis on two simple but profound principles: Trust and Allow.

As part of the training, I committed to experiencing my own weekly online breathwork sessions. Each one was unique. I was invited to trust my breath, my body, and whatever arose and to allow whatever wanted to move to move, without controlling or forcing.

Some sessions felt calm and subtle, like floating through an hour-long meditation. Others were intense, bringing tears, shouts, and the release of emotions I didn’t realize I was holding.

In one session, I found myself yelling in frustration in a moment of raw, unexpected release. In others, the shifts were gentle, almost imperceptible. Each was equally valuable. Each taught me to trust that whatever came up was exactly what needed to surface in that moment.

And this principle of allowing or letting go of the mind’s need to direct or analyze was not easy, however, it has become one of the most powerful lessons of my journey so far.

This deep trust in our own inner wisdom is at the heart of Journey-level breathwork. It is not about fixing or forcing; it’s about opening and releasing. It’s about creating space to listen to what’s been stored in our body, to feel it fully, and to integrate it into conscious life.

In our framework at The Infinite Center, we talk about Tools, Practices, and Journeys.

Tools are quick, accessible techniques, such as a few breaths between meetings to reset.

Practices are regular rhythms that build resilience over time, like a daily morning breathwork or qigong routine.

Journeys are the deep dives. They are immersive experiences designed to help us move beyond the conscious mind and connect with our deeper stories and patterns.

We offer Journey experiences at our in-person retreats, but soon we will be offering them online in a format we’ll be calling Infinite Breath. The Journey experiences offer a chance to go deeper than a typical breathwork tool or practice.

As part of the final phase of my training, we’ll be offering a free version of our Infinite Breath experience on July 22, starting at 7PM ET. In this two-hour online session, I’ll offer a brief opening talk and guide participants into about an hour of continuous breathwork, followed by space to reflect and share. Unlike the short breath tools that offer quick relief or the consistent practices that build stability, Journeys allow us to explore and release unconscious material we may have been carrying for years. This is where true transformation lives.

When I think about sharing Infinite Breath with others for the first time, I feel a mix of excitement and reverence. My role as a facilitator is not to direct or control anyone’s experience. My role is to create a safe and brave space container where each person can step into their own inner wisdom and find their own sense of internal trust. It’s an invitation to trust themselves, perhaps in a way they never have before.

Infinite Breath also points toward our larger vision at The Infinite Center. This upcoming session is part of my final certification requirements, but it’s also the beginning of something much bigger. We plan to offer online Journey experiences more regularly in the future — opportunities to reconnect with ourselves in a profound way, from the comfort of home. These online Journeys will complement our in-person retreats, like our upcoming October retreat in Portugal, where we guide even deeper, longer transpersonal breathwork experiences within a supportive community.

Ultimately, this work is about returning autonomy to each of us. In our Western culture, we often look outward for authority, such as doctors, therapists, and prescriptive programs. While those all have important roles, we also carry immense wisdom within us that we often overlook. Breathwork, especially at the Journey level, helps us remember that. It empowers us to trust ourselves, to reconnect with the innate guidance that is always present beneath the noise.

Whether you’ve been working with breath for years or are curious to explore it for the first time, Infinite Breath is an invitation. It is a chance to experience the power of trusting and allowing, to explore the stories you hold, and to reconnect with the deeper part of you that already knows the way forward.

I hope you’ll join us.
